How do I read the scorecard and compare tees?

The hole number identifies each hole, the distance describes its recorded length from that tee, and par is the reference score for the hole. Keep your actual stroke count separate from par when recording a round.

The stroke index is used to allocate handicap strokes; it is not the number of strokes you took. Tee names and colours are course-specific, so compare the recorded distances rather than assuming the same colour means the same length everywhere.
